Sculpture Studio
Thomas Lehnigk
From Craft to Art
Since 1998, he has been working as a freelance artist, realizing numerous exhibitions and public art installations. His studio at KUNST WERK KUMMER (KWK) serves as a creative retreat, where his sculptures are presented in the on-site gallery and sculpture garden.
As a member of the Künstlerbund Mecklenburg und Vorpommern e.V. (Artists’ Association of Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania) since 2004, he received the Güstrow City Art Prize in 2009 and the Ludwig Reinhard Cultural Prize in 2021. His works can be found in public collections such as the Museum Hagenow and the Museum Wismar.

Each piece reflects his profound connection to nature and his craftsmanship as a sculptor. Every sculpture tells its own story and invites viewers on a journey of exploration and contemplation.
In addition to his sculptures, Thomas Lehnigk designs furniture and accessories that bring together art and functionality in a distinct and timeless style.

Discover Art Along the Way
Thomas Lehnigk on the Discovery Route
The Discovery Route Ludwigslust–Kummer invites you to a 7 km circular trail through nature, village history, and local culture. Along the way, you will encounter sculptures by Thomas Lehnigk as well as his studio.
At the entrance to the village of Kummer, visitors are greeted by one of his sculptures – “Kumera,” derived from the Slavic word for mosquito – a steel sculpture created by the artist.
A short distance further, the route passes the Neue Ziegelei, now home to the KUNST WERK KUMMER studio. This is where Thomas Lehnigk creates sculptures from steel, stone, and bronze. Studio visits are possible by prior telephone arrangement.
