Thomas Lehnigk, a renowned sculptor from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, has created numerous sculptures for a variety of occasions and clients. His public artworks are widely recognized and appreciated. A notable example is the steel sculpture “Die Gebrochene” (“The Broken One”), which has stood at Bürgermeister-Bade-Platz in Schwerin since 2009. This open, rust-brown sphere with a diameter of two meters symbolizes the fragility of the Earth and serves as a reminder of humanity’s disregard for nature.
Lehnigk’s works enrich urban spaces and create places for gathering and reflection. His studio is located in a former brickyard in the village of Kummer, between Ludwigslust and Redefin. There he creates sculptures from stone – such as the Mecklenburg bog iron ore – steel, and bronze, as well as objects for homes and gardens.
Each commissioned work is a testament to his ability to transform individual ideas and wishes into impressive works of art. Through numerous exhibitions and public installations, Thomas Lehnigk has built a strong reputation and continues to inspire visitors from near and far with his distinctive sculptures.
